James P. Sharples

President

 

James joined NRG with an extensive background in engineering and construction. Previously, James was a structural engineer in Chicago where he served as a lead member in the design and construction management on projects totaling more than $1.3 billion. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and Purdue University, respectively, and an MBA in Entrepreneurial & Strategic Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

 

 

 

Mark Nierman

Project Selection & Tenant Procurement

 

Mark has been active in commercial real estate development throughout the United States for more than 30 years. He has supervised over 200 commercial development projects in the East Coast and the Southwest, primarily in highly Hispanic urban markets. Mark’s intimate understanding of Hispanic customers and Hispanic market trends is unrivaled and provides NRG with a strong competitive advantage due to his keen site selection skills. Mark holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from the University of Illinois.

 

 

 

 

Mildred Hernández-Crespo

Property Management

 

Mildred possesses a strong background in property management and project planning for the financial services industry. She worked for over 15 years at Banco Popular, the largest Hispanic bank in the U.S. During her tenure there, she handled site acquisition, construction and improvements, and back-office functions for over 13 locations in the Southeast U.S. Mildred earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Management from the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico.

 

 

 

 

 

Julio de Puigdorfila

Project Finance & Legal Support

 

Julio is a seasoned wealth management advisor with significant experience in real estate law. During his career as a private banker at Banco Popular he arranged multiple development financings, credit structures, and interest rate SWAPs for large industrial and commercial development clients. Julio has occupied leadership positions at Habitat for Humanity and served as team leader of the Villa Habitat project. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Massachusetts and a Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University Law School in Puerto Rico.

 

 

 

Lola Miranda

Finance & Accounting

 

Lola supervises fi nancial support areas for NRG’s property holdings. She was formerly an Assistant Comptroller at MeriStar Hospitality Corporation, where she was responsible for all accounting duties at the Radisson Hotel in Chicago. Lola is a licensed CPA and a seasoned real estate broker with experience in New Jersey and Florida. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the Universidad Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

 

 

 

 

 

Alba Ossa

Accounting & Administrative Support

 

Alba provides accounting and administrative support to NRG’s properties and to its investors. She is the former Treasurer of the San Juan Neighborhood Housing Services, a not-for-profit organization that promotes revitalization and improvement of lower income communities in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Alba has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mari Tere Olazagasti

Marketing & Design

 

Mari Tere provides creative and marketing support to NRG. She is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent brand image among NRG’s properties that is attractive to its target Hispanic clientele. In the past, she was was Assistant Vice President of Creative Services for Banco Popular. Mari Tere has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the Universidad Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ADVISORS

 

José J. Riera

Project Finance

 

José has more than 10 years of experience in providing financial solutions to low and moderate income Hispanic communities in the U.S. Prior to his work with NRG he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Popular Cash Express, a financial services retail network of over 150 financial service centers and 60 mobile units throughout the U.S. José earned a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Georgetown University and an MBA in Insurance & Risk Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

 

 

 

César Arán

Project Financing & Portfolio Management

 

Cesar has over 20 years of experience in banking, brokerage, and investment advisory services, and has focused particularly on serving corporations and high net-worth individuals. In addition, he has extensive real estate investment experience, particularly in the Northeast and Southeast U.S., as well as in the Caribbean region. Cesar earned a Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Commerce from the University of Puerto Rico and an MBA in Finance and Administration from the same institution.

 

 

 

 

Eli Stearns

Plan Development & Construction

 

Both a trained architect and licensed real estate broker, Eli has significant knowledge and expertise in distressed property redevelopment. He was founding partner of Markley Stearns, Inc., a real estate development, leasing and consulting company where he spearheaded the development of over $500 million in commercial properties. Since 2004 he has been primarily focused on commercial redevelopment projects in California and Nevada. Eli earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois.
